Joyce's Other Chapelizod Story: "A Painful Case"

We will read Joyce’s short story "A Painful Case" from Dubliners, with special attention to the fact that it's his only literary work that takes place in Chapelizod other than Finnegans Wake. As we read the story, we will detour to look at maps and specific locations and discuss the story's themes.

Some discussion points:
Why did Joyce choose Chapelizod for these works?  
As such are there any correspondences between the two?

This session is inspired by a walking tour Richard and Suzanne took in Chapelizod in 2013 that referred to both works.  

This will be a collective exploration so feel free to come with your own thoughts/research/knowledge.
